5 Smoothie Delivery Services That Make Mornings Easier

These days you can’t throw a rock without hitting yet another food subscription service. And just when you thought you’ve seen ’em all, behold: the smoothie delivery service.

We know what you’re thinking: How the heck does that even work, and why is it worth my money? It’s actually pretty simple. Most companies send you packages of frozen ingredients. You store them in your freezer until you’re ready to eat, then blend them up with the liquid of your choice. They’re quick and healthy meals that require no prep time and no grocery stores, so of course we love them.

But not all smoothie delivery services are created equal. Here are the five biggest players and what we love about each.

You’re probably already familiar with Instagram fave Daily Harvest. We love how easy it is to customize your box: First you select how many smoothies you want, then you sort by likes, dislikes, benefits (post-workout recovery, stress relief), or dietary preferences (low-carb, vegan). Choose whatever strikes your fancy (mint-cacao or chia-coconut, anyone?) or grab the best-sellers box with DH’s most popular mixes. You’ll get a new batch of frozen, premade smoothies delivered to your door weekly or monthly.

Cost: $89.88 for 12 smoothies

Sub-Zero Superfoods convinced our senior food and nutrition editor that smoothie delivery services actually are worth the cash. According to her, “no one can make smoothies *this* good on their own.”

Sub-Zero works similarly to Daily Harvest in that it lets you choose from superfood-infused smoothies like mango-cashew-turmeric or opt for a preselected box (greens, protein, fan favorites). It’s also super flexible when it comes to frequency—after your first order, you can select weekly, bimonthly, or monthly, plus skip deliveries whenever your freezer gets too full.

Cost: $95.88 for 12 smoothies

3. Splendid Spoon

Splendid Spoon is great for busy bees who don’t have time to make toast, let alone break out the blender. With its breakfast plan, you’ll get five ready-to-sip smoothies delivered each week. The flavors rotate and change seasonally, but all are vegan, low in sugar, and gluten-free. This is definitely the most expensive of the bunch, but sometimes, convenience is worth it.

Cost: $65 for five smoothies

Prefer to drink your greens? The Frozen Garden is right up your alley: Each frozen smoothie blend is packed with dark, leafy veggies plus fruits, seeds, and spices. The company tries to source most of its produce from growers within 100 miles of its Indiana headquarters, ensures any Dirty Dozen ingredients are organic, and composts 100 percent of its food waste (yay for Mother Earth!).

While The Frozen Garden is not actually a subscription service, it works in basically the same way. You still order online, but you’ll have to place a new one each time. The silver lining is that its prices are a bit lower than competitors.

Cost: $6.99 per smoothie (minimum of $35 per order)

What makes SmoothieBox different is the 20-gram packet of grass-fed collagen that comes with each smoothie pouch. Right now the company only has three flavors: cacao (banana, zucchini, kale, coconut water), green (spinach, avocado, pineapple, ginger), and clementine (mandarin, sweet potato, carrot, ginger), so it’s best for people who want to get more protein but don’t need a ton of variety.

Cost: $119 for 20 smoothies

Every editorial product is independently selected by our editors. If you buy something through one of our links, we may earn a commission. But don’t worry, it doesn’t cost you anything extra, and we wouldn’t recommend a product if we didn’t love it as much as we love puppies.
